Preparing a firearm
- Look up the weapon in the item database and check which magazines fit. Two magazines of the same calibre do not necessarily fit the same weapon.
- Open ammunition boxes to get loose rounds. Load them into a matching magazine, or straight into a weapon without a detachable magazine.
- Attach the magazine, equip the weapon and press R to reload.
- Hold the right mouse button to raise the weapon, or tap it for the sights.
Reading the dots
Weapon pages rate damage, range and rate of fire from one to five dots, compared with the other firearms. Ammunition, attachments, armour and where you hit change the real result. Shotguns fire a spread of pellets – devastating up close, weak at range.
Attachments
Attachment pages list what they do: scopes magnify and steady your aim, suppressors make shots quieter (not silent), stocks and grips reduce recoil. Several attachments add up, and each adds weight. Item pages list exactly which weapons an attachment fits.
Stamina and aiming
Ctrl steadies your aim only while you have stamina, and a tired character aims less steadily. Heavy gear lowers your stamina – carrying every weapon you find makes the next shot harder.
