Update 0.1.6 opens four new places on the map – a swamp with boardwalks, the reworked Kamenec quarry, the underground bunker Objekt 31 and an abandoned funfair – and adds swimming exhaustion and drowning, fruit trees, map markers for you and your group, and joining friends with an invite code. Eating and drinking take effect right away, many weapons sound new, and your progress is kept safely across game updates.
Four new places: swamp, Kamenec quarry, bunker Objekt 31 and Lunapark
Drowning, fruit trees, map markers and group markers
Your character and base are kept across game updates
Added: Bažiny u ústí Vorny – a swamp at the mouth of the Vorna with boardwalks and plank paths across the water, huts and dead trees.
Added: Objekt 31 – a military bunker in the hills. Behind a large blast door, ramps lead down to two underground levels with halls, corridors and military loot.
Added: Lunapark Korabelsk – an abandoned funfair east of Korabelsk with a Ferris wheel, carousel, bumper cars and booths, rusty and overgrown.
Added: Swimming exhaustion and drowning. The longer you swim in deep water, the more tired you get – heavy gear and wet clothes make it worse. You hear yourself gasp, then cough as you go under; if you do not reach the shore in time, you drown.
Added: Fruit trees. Search apple, pear and plum trees in gardens and orchards for fresh, dried or rotten fruit; a picked tree bears again after a while.
Added: Map markers. Click on the map to set up to twelve markers with a colour and symbol; they show in the compass band with their distance. Your group sees each other’s markers with names, and the group leader can clear them. Players outside your group never see them.
Added: Join with invite code in the server browser. Paste the code a friend sends you; the game checks it right away and tells you if a character is missing or wrong.
Added: Start areas. New characters wake up in one of several areas along the coast and the edges of the map, away from other players and from high-loot areas.
Added: Repair kits and disinfecting. Drag a sewing kit, whetstone, weapon cleaning kit, duct tape, electronics kit or epoxy putty onto a damaged item; disinfect rags and bandages with spray, alcohol or iodine so they do not infect a wound.
Added: Gadgets you can use – GPS, compass, rangefinder, binoculars, radio and megaphone (some need a 9-volt battery), plus kitchen timers and alarm clocks that ring and draw infected.
Added: Crafting arrows from feathers and sticks, a fish trap from netting and a long stick, and rags from a pelt.
Improved: The Kamenec quarry (Lom Kamenec) is now a real open pit – three terraced walls, ramps down to the floor, a pond at the bottom, two excavators, dump trucks and a mobile crusher.
Improved: Eating and drinking. About half of what you eat or drink helps right away and the rest digests within about a minute. Wells and ponds give much more water per gulp, and new characters start half fed and half watered.
Improved: Attachment slots in the inventory. The weapon shows a small field for each attachment point – drag attachments on, and drag them out, double-click or right-click to take them off.
Improved: Sounds. Many firearms have their own new recordings; kitchen timers and alarm clocks ring; you hear your character gasp and cough when swimming gets dangerous.
Improved: Walls near you lower smoothly when you approach a building, the same for every player. Blood and bullet holes now follow the cut through a building, and the building preview stays calm while you place it.
Improved: Doors are easier to spot, road edges and kerbs look smoother, and only inhabited-looking houses have lights on at night.
Improved: The crosshair ring adapts to your resolution and weapon, and its colour can be changed in the settings. Your flashlight never switches on by itself.
Improved: Game updates keep your progress. Servers announce an update with a countdown and the new version, save and restart – your character, inventory and base stay. Building parts in the way of a changed map are packed into a crate at your base. In singleplayer, every world keeps backups, including one from before each game update.
Improved: Joining a server loads the map right away, and if the server turns down an action you now see why. You can eat and drink straight from containers and the ground.
Changed: Walls, floors and ceilings now really block. You can no longer search, open or pick up things through them, infected and animals only attack on your own floor with nothing solid in between, and bullets only pass through soft materials – never through ceilings.
Changed: The invite code is now entered in the server browser (top right) instead of the main menu.
Fixed: Hands could stay blocked after eating, drinking or bandaging if you picked something up or opened a door right away.
Fixed: Moving characters left smeared trails, and rain showed as long streaks.
Fixed: Blood was visible on other floors of a building.
The second part of update 0.1.5 lets you swim, climb out of the water and onto ledges, and adds fall damage. The graphics were rebuilt with reflections on water and puddles, far-reaching shadows and support for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 3.1, stutters were fixed, and the number of items more than doubled to 945.
Added: Swimming. Deep water no longer stops you at the shore – you swim at the surface. Swimming costs stamina, you cannot use weapons or items in the water, and only your head and shoulders can be hit. Infected, animals and vehicles stay on land.
Added: Climbing. Climb onto ledges and walls up to about two metres and out of the water onto the bank – with Roll / climb, or simply by swimming against the bank. Low obstacles are vaulted with one hand.
Added: Fall damage. How hard a fall hits depends on the height, the ground, bushes or water below, landing crouched and how much you carry – from a hard landing to a sprained or broken leg, bleeding and unconsciousness. From great heights a fall is fatal.
Added: Upscalers in Settings › Graphics – NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution (with DLAA and sharpness) on GeForce RTX graphics cards, AMD FSR 3.1 and the game’s own upscaler. They only change how the image is reconstructed: what you see stays the same for everyone, and the default stays at native resolution.
Added: Quality “Auto” (experimental). It holds a target frame rate – your display’s refresh rate by default – by lowering only the internal resolution when needed.
Added: NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency (Off, On, On + Boost), a film grain slider (0 % turns it off) and, on NVIDIA graphics cards, optional GPU crash diagnostics that are only sent with a crash report you agree to send.
Added: New weapons, including the VAP-91, Sokol D14, Orel OS-98, Vichr 39 and Šroub 9, sawn-off shotguns and a lever-action rifle, plus new sights, a suppressor, stocks and handguards, and eleven new melee weapons such as the cleaver, sickle and pitchfork.
Added: Hundreds of new clothes and pieces of gear – suits, work and hazmat clothing, caps and helmets, plate carriers, dry bags and many colour variants. Together with the new weapons there are now 945 items instead of 432.
Added: Infected density for servers and singleplayer worlds – Few, Normal, Many or Hordes, each within tested limits. The server browser shows it and can filter by it.
Added: Guardrails hold, bend or tear when a vehicle hits them, depending on speed and weight; fences, signs and posts break.
Added: Captions for gunshots, muffled shots and bullets passing close by (when captions are turned on).
Added: Licence agreement and start notice. On first start you accept the End User Licence Agreement, with links to the privacy policy and the community guidelines. A short note about Early Access appears at every start.
Improved: Lighting and shadows were rebuilt. Sun shadows now reach up to 320 m, grass shadows up to 80 m without an edge at the screen border, and the night sky has a moon and stars.
Improved: Reflections on water, puddles and wet surfaces.
Improved: Water looks more natural – irregular ripples, current, shadows of trees, banks and buildings on the surface, muddy shallows, rings around swimmers and a waterline that follows the shore. Puddles have soft edges.
Improved: Paving slabs, cobblestones, road markings, asphalt, gravel, concrete, sand, rock and mud look cleaner, without a restless mosaic pattern.
Improved: Car wrecks. Fewer but more varied and detailed wrecks – off-roaders, vans, buses, box trucks, caravans and tractors with ploughs and disc harrows – with realistic rust.
Improved: Performance. Stutters while walking or driving and frame drops inside houses are gone, characters and infected are drawn faster, and sounds load in the background.
Improved: Sound. Gunshots change with distance and sound different indoors, and impacts depend on the material that is hit.
Improved: Animations. Moving with empty hands looks more natural, and jumps no longer spin – the legs bend instead.
Improved: Interaction hints only appear when you stand right in front of an object, and camera shake is smoother.
Changed: Not every piece of furniture can be searched any more – only some of it in each house, while in military areas everything can still be searched. Homes can now also hold civilian weapons.
Changed: More weapons, attachments, clothing and vehicle parts carry names of their own, for example the Rys K4, Puška Z-91, Karabina Sova and the Šiška hand grenade. Items in inventories, storage and saved worlds are converted automatically.
Changed: The game starts in English the first time; you can switch to German in the settings at any time.
Changed: You can walk through dry maize.
Changed: The top-left corner shows Early Access and the build number instead of “Demo” and fades out after a moment.
Fixed: The whole image trembled and flickered while standing still.
Fixed: Furniture you had searched could appear unsearched again after loading or a restart.
Fixed: You could get stuck in doors or be jammed by them.
Fixed: Problems when joining a server and when getting out of vehicles.
Fixed: A crash with many characters on screen, and memory use that kept growing while exploring or returning to the main menu.
Update 0.1.5 adds base building and crafting: build shelters piece by piece, upgrade them through four construction grades, keep your loot behind locks and claim land with a territory flag. Vehicles now knock players, infected and animals down realistically, and the game runs noticeably smoother with the same look.
Added: Base building. With a building plan in your inventory and a hammer in your hands, open the building catalog (B, or hold D-pad up on a controller). Foundations, walls, doors, windows, floors, stairs, roofs, fences and gates snap to a grid and adapt to the terrain; a hologram shows whether a piece fits and, if not, why.
Added: Four construction grades – frame, wood, reinforced and metal – with upgrade, repair, rotate, demolish and dismantle. Every piece needs support: when a supporting piece is destroyed, whatever rests on it collapses.
Added: Storage furniture – crates, cabinet, shelf, steel locker and weapon rack – that keeps its contents across restarts, and combination and code locks for doors, gates and storage.
Added: Territory flag with an upkeep chest. Inside a territory only the owner and authorised players can build; without upkeep a base slowly decays. On PvE servers other players cannot damage your structures, on PvP servers raiding is slow and loud.
Added: Crafting in the CRAFT tab of the catalog – by hand, at the workbench, at the reloading bench or by a fire: materials, tools, locks and ammunition. Black powder is mixed from saltpetre, charcoal and sulphur, bullets are cast from lead; cases and primers only come from loot.
Added: Rain barrel as a water source; burn barrel and iron stove for fire, warmth and cooking. In singleplayer a bed or sleeping bag can be set as your respawn point.
Added: Benchmark in Settings › Graphics. It measures performance in fixed scenes, as a short or a full run.
Improved: Vehicle impacts. Players, infected and animals hit by a vehicle are thrown depending on speed and angle, tumble and come to rest on the ground. In multiplayer every player sees the same result.
Improved: Collisions between vehicles in multiplayer.
Improved: Performance. The game runs noticeably smoother on the same hardware, with the same look.
Improved: The wiki is now also available in German and has a new section on base building and crafting.
Fixed: Objects in the world that stuck into each other, such as trees, props and buildings.
Vehicles, weapons and several items now carry names from Vorna. Characters, inventories, vehicles and saved worlds stay as they are.
Changed: The six vehicles are now called Orlice 25 (saloon), Kamzík 4×4 (off-roader), Jiskra 1300 (hatchback), Zvonec 110 L (rear-engine saloon), Buvol VT-6 (6×6 truck) and Vlčák VP-4 (military 4×4). Wheels, doors and other body parts carry the new names.
Changed: Weapons, magazines and attachments carry new names, for example Vranov P20, VAP-62, VAP-79, Šepot 39, Orel OP-70 and VAP-12 Bouřka.
Changed: Several items have new names, including the Antidote Auto-Injector, Canned Bacon and the Unlabelled Can.
Changed: The admin tool and the RCON command spawnveh accept the new short names orlice, kamzik, jiskra, zvonec, buvol and vlcak; existing scripts keep working.
Changed: Reworded the notes in server.cfg and the hosting guide.
Changed: The vehicle pages of the wiki have new addresses; old links redirect automatically.
Fixed: Letters such as Č, Ř, Ě and Ů now display in every font of the interface.
