Check the mask and the filter
Wear the Gas Mask with a Gas Mask Filter attached. A full filter lasts a few minutes in gas; wearing the mask outside gas uses it up slowly too. Other masks and scarves do not protect you.
A filter you find may not be full. Carry a spare – an empty filter does not protect you.
Exposure & symptoms
Without a working filter, gas contaminates you – faster if you are bleeding. A mask stops further contamination but does not remove what you already have.
- Light: coughing. It wears off once you leave the gas.
- Heavy: coughing and vomiting cost blood. It no longer wears off on its own.
- Severe: you go into shock and are dazed.
Get clear, then treat
Leave the gas and use a Antidote Auto-Injector. It cures light and heavy contamination; a severe case needs a second dose. Check your blood afterwards – see health, blood & first aid.

Food, water & digestion
Half of what you eat or drink helps right away; the rest digests within about a minute.
Health, blood & first aid
Stop the bleeding first. Health, blood and shock recover in different ways.
Illness & treatment
Match the treatment to the problem. A pill is not a universal cure.
Weather, warmth & wetness
Clothing condition and wetness matter as much as finding shelter.
