Put together a fishing kit
- Find a Fishing Rod or craft an improvised rod.
- Attach a Fishing Hook, Bone Hook or Wooden Hook and add a Earthworm as bait. A Jig (Lure) works without bait.
- Face water that is deep enough and within reach.
- Cast, wait for the bite signal and pull while it shows – it is short, so react quickly. Pulling too early ends the attempt; missing a bite costs the bait.
Better gear, better catches
- Bait makes fish bite sooner.
- The proper fishing rod catches better fish and gets bites faster than an improvised one.
- Metal hooks last longest, bone hooks less, wooden hooks wear out quickly. You can also lose a hook.
What you can catch
Carp in lakes and rivers, Mackerel at sea, plus the odd piece of junk. Cut a whole fish into portions with a blade before cooking.
Finding worms
Dig in grass, dirt or forest ground. A shovel, field shovel, hoe or pickaxe finds more worms per dig than other tools. Digging wears the tool.
