PvE, PvP and friendly fire
Each server sets PvP, friendly fire in groups and friendly fire from explosives separately. On a PvE server players cannot hurt each other. On a PvP server, being in the same group does not automatically protect you.
Where you hit matters
Headshots hurt the most, torso hits less, arm and leg hits the least. Damage drops off at long range.
Protection
Armour protects the part of the body it covers; head and torso have their own slots. Armour wears down as it takes hits. Bullet and melee protection are separate – item pages rate both.
A hit you survive still matters
Hits cost blood, cause shock, open wounds and can break a leg. Treat a wound even if you still feel healthy.

Inventory & equipment
Inventory size, pocket layout and weight are separate limits.
Firearms, ammo & attachments
Calibre alone is not enough. Match the magazine, load the rounds and check the weapon.

Quick strikes, heavy swings and keeping your distance from infected and other survivors.
